Spring Series - Race 2026-06-13

The morning began with differing opinions on where to race. Willingdon to the mill and back was favoured by the more conservative folks but deemed far to boring for the younger crowd as there was no wind available.

After considerable haggling the young ones got their way and we elected to motor over to Cyrill rock where there was hope in the form of some dark blue water. The plan was to race from Cyrill Rock, around Rebecca Rock clockwise and finish back where we started. It turned out to be an excellent plan. We had enough wind to average 3 - 5 knots of boat speed. The upwind leg was a good challenge and the downwind leg back home gave us a beautiful spinnaker run. After race comments were enthusiastically favourable.

All the elements for a good race were found including lots of wind, sunshine and stunning views not to mention the excellent competitive sailing. Una had a good start shadowed by Bring Ice and followed closely by Kukuna, Revelar and Navis. Seance chose the opposite tack but joined in with the rest of the fleet at Rebecca Rock.

Una maintained her lead throughout and increased it on the spinnaker run to capture line honours as well as the win in corrected time.
