Spring Series - Race 2026-05-30

Lauritz Chambers 30 May 2026 5

A fairly steady 5 15 knot north wester gave us great sailing conditions. We raced from Willingdon upwind to the mill mark, on a close reach for 1 nautical mile out to a virtual mark, then downwind to Grief point before another close reach to Willingdon for the finish. Most of us covered the nine nautical miles in well under 2 hours.

Strong winds with a healthy chop greeted us for the start but with only 5 boats there were no complaints. Seance led the pack with Una, Kukuna, Revelar, and Navis following. The main contest was between Una and Kukuna as Kukuna remained very close which with a larger handicap meant she was leading. The reach out to the virtual mark saw Seance arrive well ahead followed by Revelar, Kukuna, Una and Navis in that order. The downwind run with spinnakers gave Una the advantage as she reached Grief Point second behind Seance. On the final leg Una actually caught Seance as the wind dropped and almost stole the show but for a last second puff which took Seance across the finish 7 seconds ahead of Una. Revelar really showed her abilities on the last leg as she caught Kukuna and finished 3rd across the line.

Congratulations to Seance for first to cross and to Una for the very close win in corrected time.
