Spring Series - Race 2025-04-19
It was a blustery day that refused to listen to the weatherman’s opinion as instead of decreasing, the wind strengthened.
We (on Una) felt fortunate to get out of the harbour. Actually we left the harbour twice and returned twice without even reaching the start line as each time our headsail twisted itself into a fearful knot when we tried to unfurl it. We realized after two tries that it was simply too frightened to open up. Revelar as well really wanted to be in the race but due to the strong winds was unable to maneuver out of the North harbour.
Seance and Balderdash did manage to have a good race although at the start skipper Brian apparently came perilously close to joining the Balderdash crew in their cockpit with his entire boat. The details of that encounter are sketchy.
They raced up to the mill from Willingdon and then downwind to Grief Point and finally upwind back to Willingdon for the finish. Congratulations to Seance for a line honours and the win and to Martjin and crew on Balderdash for a close second in her inaugural Powell River race.
