Shearwater 2024

After four tries the annual Shearwater race finally took place November 23rd, 2024.

Winds were from the south-east at 15 - 25 knots. We probably saw 30 knot gusts but our boats were well prepared with adequate reefs in place. The course ran in a clockwise direction around Harwood Island, starting and ending North to south through the Willingdon Beach marks. 3 boats took part.

Una had the best start followed by Red Dwarf and lastly Seance. Red Dwarf took the lead halfway to Harwood and only lost it to Seance on the final leg which for the smaller boats was a wicked beat back to Willingdon. Congratulations to Captain Kyle and crew of Seance for line honours and another incident free Shearwater win! (The incident happened afterwards)
