Frostbite Series - Race 2025-02-08

All I can say about today is I feel a bit sorry for all those friends and neighbours who paid all those thousands to find sunshine in southern climes while back home we had another magical day like this:

Our course was two laps - Upwind to the mill from Willingdon, then downwind back to Willingdon, upwind to the mill again followed by the return downwind to Willingdon for the finish. The wind was from the north west at 5 - 10 knots. Three minutes before the start there was just a slight easterly breeze. One minute later the north-westerly came in perfectly timed to fill our sails. Being so clustered we found ourselves in each others way while rapidly accelerating.

Bring Ice unintentionally fouled Seance who, in having to move out of the way fouled Una who basically got knocked out of the ring and had to jibe around and make another attempt to start. Bring Ice had to take a 720 degree penalty, Seance was exonerated for apparently having no evil intent while Una got left behind floating mercilessly in irons. Red Dwarf somehow avoided the mayhem and took an early lead while Solitude and Navis had good starts by calmly staying out of harms way.

Miraculously, with cunning and deception Una turned the Mill mark in the lead, raised her spinnaker and remained in the lead until the third leg when Seance roared past (above) but it was too little to late. The final downwind leg would have Una hold her position to the finish line. Congratulations to Seance for line honours once again and to Una for the win in corrected time.
