Frostbite Series - Race 2025-01-11

Lauritz Chambers 13 January 2025 54

As predicted sunshine and a warm breeze made for a very enjoyable race. Winds were light at the start and coming from the south east near the shore while further out they were coming from the north-west.

Our course was shortened to go from Willingdon to the mill and back due to the light wind start. Red Dwarf chose to go out to the stronger northerly winds while others tried to ride the easterly breeze inshore and take advantage of the shorter distance.

After 45 minutes the north west wind filled in and we were all suddenly off like scared sheep. Red Dwarf’s strategy paid off as she reached the mill mark well ahead of the rest of us. The breeze held for the downwind run to the finish with Red Dwarf taking line honours and first place in corrected time.
