Fall Series - Race 2026-10-17

Lauritz Chambers 18 October 2026 13

Five competitors had to suffer through 5 - 15 knot north-westerly winds, clear blue skies and soul warming sunshine. The winds came as a pleasant surprise as they were quite absent during our morning meeting.

However once we reached the start line the breeze filled in and stayed around for the duration. Our race course was the normal lap or two from Willingdon to the mill mark. We felt we’d be lucky to complete one lap at first but with the favourable winds strengthening two laps were completed in under an hour and a half.

Bring Ice took the lead but Una soon passed by a little further out where she found stronger wind. Boat speeds varied from 4 to 6 knots. The winds were quite shifty and more northerly than usual which made the course quite interesting. As the race progressed Footloose showed her promise by rapidly closing in on Una from behind in hopes of stealing her wind. Alas Una crossed first anyway. Footloose and the others will wait for a better day.
