Fall Series - Race 2025-10-04
What can I say? It was a near perfect day with a happy ending. The north westerly winds blessed us with 5 to 10 knots of their finest. As the sun burned the clouds away 7 sloops were to be found racing around a 6 nautical mile course upwind from Willingdon to the mill, then reaching out to “G” mark, then downwind back to Willingdon, then again upwind to the mill before the final downwind to Willingdon.
Una had the best start this time, sticking to the shore on port tack and making the mill mark on a single tack. The only boat giving her competition today was the amazing Seance, all 30,000 lbs of her keeping up in the shifty breezes like a Laser. The others chose the opposite tack at the start and it didn’t work out quite so well for them. Captain Kyle and a happy crew cruised across the line first but as always those nasty handicap ratings gave the win to Una.
It felt very nice being first into the Legion and not having to stand in line to order a chicken burger.
